Once again, the officers responsible for ensuring safety during San Fermín are urging citizens to use the free mobile application Alertcops. during the festivities. It is available for free download on Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store).
The AlertCops app facilitates communication between citizens and State Law Enforcement Agencies to report criminal situations they are either victims of or witnesses to. It allows users to easily and intuitively send geolocated alerts to the police.
Through the app, users can send live photos and videos of incidents they are experiencing or witnessing. In addition, thanks to the geolocation of the alerts, it is possible to identify which patrol unit is closest to the scene, thereby speeding up the response from law enforcement.
The system also features an online translation service and supports over 100 languages, making it accessible to the millions of tourists who visit our country each year. Since its launch, the app has expanded its coverage nationwide and continues to add new features.
"SOS Button" for Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence
One of the recently added features is the inclusion of the "SOS Button", designed specifically for women who are victims of gender-based violence.
In case of need, they can discreetly request immediate assistance from State Law Enforcement Agencies. To do so, they must press the SOS button on their mobile phone at least five times within six seconds, and the system will automatically send an alert to the nearest police station.
Additionally, the system records 10 seconds of audio and attaches it to the alert, allowing police officers to assess the severity of the situation.
How the Application Works
AlertCops is available for free download on Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store) operating systems.
After downloading the app, the user simply needs to register their device as a new user by providing their personal information. Once installed, the user can generate an alert by selecting, through icons, the option that best describes the situation they wish to report to the State Law Enforcement Agencies.
By confirming the alert, the user’s information and location will be sent to the National Police or Civil Guard Command and Control Center.
