The Ministry of the Interior launches the new version of AlertCops: easier, safer, closer

Madrid, July 14, 2025. The Ministry of the Interior has today unveiled the new version of the AlertCops mobile application — the app that connects citizens with law enforcement agencies to enhance real-time safety. Featuring a redesigned interface that is simpler, more accessible, and intuitive, AlertCops takes a step forward with a citizen-focused approach under the slogan “AlertCops protects you.”

This new version reflects the Ministry’s commitment to bringing security closer to all citizens, guided by the motto “Easier, safer, closer.” The update prioritizes an optimized user experience, enabling quicker and clearer access to key features — both in emergency situations and in everyday life.

New Services, Enhanced Protection:

Among the main new features, new services have been added to enhance personal protection and encourage daily use of the app:

  • Real-time location sharing with up to 5 trusted contacts.
  • Accompany Me, a feature that allows a trusted person to follow your journey for peace of mind when you're going somewhere.
  • SOS button, to immediately alert authorities in case of an emergency.
  • Guardian, a new digital figure designed to increase community surveillance.
  • Sound alarm, which helps deter risky situations by activating an alert sound.
  • Simulated call, ideal for getting out of uncomfortable or potentially dangerous situations.

In addition to these new services, existing features have been improved, such as the sending of geolocated alerts, automatic message translation, and specific support for vulnerable groups such as victims of gender-based violence, tourists, and people with hearing disabilities.
