Alertcops at the Javieradas 2025: Guaranteeing the safety of pilgrims in Navarre for another year
The Javieradas 2025 will take place on March 8–9 (First Javierada) and March 15–16 (Second Javierada), under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, in alignment with the Jubilee Year.
This annual event, which honors Saint Francis Xavier, draws thousands of pilgrims from both within and outside Spain, becoming a powerful expression of faith and solidarity that transcends the borders of Navarra.
To ensure the safety of attendees, the Ministry of the Interior has implemented additional measures, notably the activation of a special version of the AlertCops app. A dedicated Javieradas button will be automatically enabled when users are near the event area. This feature allows pilgrims to send real-time geolocated alerts about emergencies or risky situations, enabling direct and efficient communication with security forces.
Additionally, AlertCops is available in several languages, including Spanish, Basque, English, French, German, Italian, and Russian, making it accessible to pilgrims of various nationalities.
The security operation will involve more than 900 personnel, including volunteers, members of Civil Protection, the Red Cross, the Foral Police, the Civil Guard, and local police forces.
The collaboration between tradition and technology at the Javieradas 2025 reflects the commitment of authorities and society to ensure a safe and meaningful experience for all pilgrims participating in this culturally and spiritually significant event.
